Margie Ferguson is the associate provost of academic programs and initiatives in the Office of Academic Affairs.
She began serving as senior associate vice chancellor of academic affairs in 2016. Previously, she was assistant vice president for statewide academic relations in the Office of the Executive Vice President for University Academic Affairs at Indiana University. She is also a professor of political science in the School of Liberal Arts.
In her current role, Margie focuses on faculty leadership development and career enhancement, and making IU Indianapolis an employer of choice. She also handles new program and degree proposals for Academic Affairs.
Her portfolio includes the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Center for Translating Research into Practice, Faculty Affairs, the Office for Intergroup Dialogue & Civil Community, and the Office for Women.
Margie earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, and her master's and Ph.D. in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She began her academic career at IUPUI in 1996. Her research interests include state politics and policy, executive politics, and American government.
