Margie Ferguson began serving as the senior associate vice chancellor of academic affairs in January 2016. Previously, she served as the assistant vice president for statewide academic relations in the Office of the Executive Vice President for University Academic Affairs at Indiana University. She also is a professor of political science in the School of Liberal Arts.
In her current position, she focuses on policies and practices related to faculty development and success. Relevant examples include promotion and tenure, faculty grievances, career enhancement, and other efforts designed to make IUPUI an employer of choice. In addition, she serves as the Academic Affairs contact for new program and degree proposals.
Margie's portfolio includes the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), the Center for Translating Research into Practice (TRIP), Faculty Affairs, the Office for Intergroup Dialogue & Civil Community, and the Office for Women.
Margie received her baccalaureate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, and M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She began her academic career at IUPUI in 1996. Her research interests include state politics and policy, executive politics, and American government.
