About the Coalition
The Coaching and Mentoring Coalition unites faculty, staff, and students as champions, practitioners, and scholars into a multicampus network committed to expanding equitable access to coaching and mentoring experiences for all that seek them.
IU Indianapolis has a rich culture of mentoring and coaching and has drawn national recognition for its contributions to professional development. Despite these assets, many on campus continue to remain unaware of ongoing programming and opportunities for coaching and mentoring and systemic barriers to high quality coaching and mentoring persist. Together as the Coalition, we serve as a gateway to opportunities, information, and expertise for those who are desire mentoring and coaching connections to enhance their personal, professional and/or civic growth.
Expanding access also means addressing systemic barriers to coaching and mentoring. The Coalition’s work also includes advocacy work to address existing barriers. Evidence demonstrates that effective coaching and mentoring play an important role in advancing critical campus change initiatives (e.g. retention and success of diverse communities). Hence, enhancing networking and collaboration among coaching and mentoring efforts on campus, and beyond, reflects a strategic investment to further strategic priorities for faculty, staff and student success.
