Faculty Engagement and Inclusion
The Office of Academic Affairs provides guidance and educational opportunities for academic units in support of the campus strategic priorities related to engagement and inclusion. We serve as a resource to administrators, faculty, and staff for information on faculty demographic data, inclusive hiring practices, and equity-focused faculty and leader development.
Inclusive Hiring
Academic Affairs provides resources that assist academic units in the recruitment, hiring, retention, and advancement of faculty from varied backgrounds. These resources offer guidance to search and screen committees as they work to cultivate an inclusive hiring pool of faculty talent to support and enrich our campus community.
Equity Education
Academic Affairs provides strategic development, administration, and evaluation of comprehensive equity education opportunities among all ranks of faculty. Academic Affairs also provides campus-level training to faculty in academic units engaged in processes related to faculty hiring, promotion and tenure decision making, teaching, and mentorship.
Faculty Resources
IU Indianapolis provides support for faculty success through opportunities that provide mentorship, research support, professional development, and recognition of scholarly excellence.
Leadership Development
The IU Indianapolis Next Generation 2.0 program is an initiative that brings together historically underrepresented faculty and staff to engage in leadership and professional development, with the goal of addressing current disparities in leadership positions and succession planning for the institution.
Grants
IU Indianapolis has been involved in multi-year initiatives to affect change in the culture and climate of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) disciplines, to ensure a more diverse and equitable environment for faculty, staff, and students traditionally underrepresented in these fields.
Academic Pipeline Programs
Faculty diversity begins with a diverse community of graduate, professional, and postdoctoral students. IU Indianapolis provides resources, guidance, and support to prepare those interested in pursuing academic careers. More resources can be found at the IU Indianapolis Graduate Office.
