Faculty Bonuses

A "bonus" is a one-time payment, separate from annual increases, mid-year base salary increases, administrative supplements, or overload payments. The IU Indianapolis Faculty Guide provides a description of the policy requirements for bonuses; units also need to determine their own fiscal situations.

The essential elements are:

• Only full-time faculty are eligible.
• There must be a school-level policy in place, approved by the school's faculty governance mechanisms.
  • This policy must be filed with and approved by the Office of Academic Affairs and Finance and Administration.
• There is a limit of 10% of one's base salary on bonuses; bonuses over 8% require FIAD approval.
