Summer 2023 Notes
- The teaching limit for adjuncts across ALL summer sessions is 6 credits. (Don’t forget this includes all IU campuses as well as IU Online.)
- Full time 10 month faculty may teach up to 6 credits without overload approval.
- If a 10 month faculty member is
retiring or resigning, their last day worked is May 31
st, 2023,
unless they are teaching in summer. If they teach, here are their last day worked*:
- Summer I only: June 30th
- Summer I and II, or full term: July 31st
- If a faculty member does not teach in summer I but teaches summer II, they do so as an adjunct.
- If a new 10 month faculty member will begin work in the summer (special summer research or teaching pay), they will go FIRST into a 12 month position then in August be transferred to a 10 month position.
- New 10 month faculty members will not get moving expenses until their first paycheck.
*It is essential to use this specific last-day-worked so that the payroll runs correctly, especially in August.
