Welcome to the Office of Academic Affairs

The IU Indianapolis Office of Academic Affairs, led by Interim Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer Jay Gladden, provides strategic leadership for academic operations and is the campus home for faculty employment, professional development, and mentoring. 

OAA activities support the university's mission of advancing the State of Indiana and the intellectual growth of its citizens to the highest levels through research and creative activity, teaching and learning, the delivery of outstanding academic programs, and through civic engagement. Our office helps ensure that our core values of are woven through academic programs, academic support services for students, and faculty development activities.

Dr. Jay Gladden has been appointed IU Indianapolis’ first Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, effective October 1, 2024.

Jay brings invaluable vision and experience to this pivotal role, which will be essential as we transition to R1 status and continue to build our reputation as a leading public urban research institution. Over the past 15 years, Jay has held multiple leadership positions, including serving as dean of both the School of Physical Education and Tourism Management and University College. He served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Education and played a key role in integrating technology to enhance teaching and learning in his role as Associate Vice President at the university. During his time as Interim Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer, Jay has been instrumental in the transition to IU Indianapolis and the execution of the IU Indianapolis 2030 strategic plan.

His longstanding commitment to Indiana University is a testament to his dedication and we welcome and congratulate Jay in this new role.
