Glenn Irwin, Jr. Research Scholar Award

This award is IU Indy's highest recognition of outstanding continuing research by a colleague. The recipient is expected to represent a sufficiently high level of achievement in research, scholarship, or creative activity to represent excellence for the entire campus.

A $5,000 award will be added to one faculty member's base salary.

Nominations for this award are open.

Nominations must be submitted online via this form by 11:59 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2024.

EligibilityOpen to all IU Indianapolis and IU Columbus faculty of any rank, including the regional medical centers.
NominatorsDeans, chairs, or colleagues may nominate candidates.
Criteria

Candidates should have a sustained record of research, successful grant writing, and an impact on their field of study.

A national or international reputation is a prerequisite for award candidates.

Documentation

Documentation should include:

  • Nomination letter. An official nomination letter describing the candidate’s research or creative activity and explaining the significance.
  • Letters of support. Letters should include the writer's full contact information.
    • Up to three letters from Indiana University colleagues
    • Up to two support letters from colleagues outside the university. 
  • Curriculum Vitae. The candidate's CV.
  • Reference list. A list of additional internal and external references that may be asked to comment on the candidate’s work including references from the candidate’s primary professional organization who can comment on the candidate’s contribution to the field of research.
Submission

Compete the electronic nomination form and upload all documentation.

Uploaded files should be in Word format. If documentation is not currently available electronically, it can be scanned. The Center for Teaching and Learning, University Library Room 1125, can assist.

Nomination durationNominations will be considered during the year they are submitted.
Selection ProcessA committee of past award winners and persons appointed by the Chancellor will determine the awardee.
