KEEP: Key Efforts to Ensure Promotion
The Office of Academic Affairs recognizes that an institution’s ability to retain and advance diverse faculty talent is critical to its success. The KEEP program is designed to supplement efforts already undertaken within academic units to support tenured/tenure-track faculty on their path toward promotion and tenure. The program provides funding for one to two faculty development initiatives identified by the faculty in consultation with their chair, in addition to registration for either the fall or spring semester offering of the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity’s (NCFDD) Faculty Success Program (FSP). Other initiatives may include professional/leadership development workshops, coaching/mentoring initiatives, and national networking conferences.
ELIGIBILITY: KEEP is for retention purposes only. Previous recipients of START funding are not eligible. Priority will be given to faculty hired under the IU Presidential Diversity Hiring Initiative (PDHI).
PROCEDURE: All requests for KEEP funding must include the following:
- One to two faculty development initiatives with attending costs and timelines
- Proposed date of participation in FSP
- Current curriculum vita of faculty candidate
- Statement of demonstrated need for retention of the candidate
- Specified plan of advancement for the candidate, developed in consultation with chair/program director
- A copy of the offer letter if a PDHI recipient
KEEP is available to IU Indianapolis faculty based in Indianapolis, Columbus, and Fort Wayne.
Requests for support should be made to the Office of Academic Affairs at ude[dot]ui[at]aao.
