Dossier Content: Combined Materials
"Combined" means single files rather than "separate files in multiple folders."
Binned cases are of two types:
- A single area of excellence--in that type of case, one area is 'excellent' and the other one or two areas are at least 'satisfactory.'
- A balanced-binned case--in that type of case, each area must be 'highly satisfactory.'
For binned cases, it is critical to separate materials for each area. For binned cases, you can place materials into each individual folder in e-dossier, OR, create one pdf for EACH area (plus one pdf for candidate statement, and one for the CV.)
Balanced-integrative (thematic or DEI) cases have different types of evidence. eDossier was not designed for those cases. In them you will create a SINGLE pdf for ALL regular dossier materials.
Step one: use the appropriate template on this page: look under:
- Binned Cases--Combined Contents Templates
- Integrative Cases--Dossier Organization and Template
Paste your materials into the appropriate sections.
Delete the instructions at the beginning.
Keep the explanation that the document is (will be) "bookmarked" for pdf readers.
Keep the Large, Bold type headers.
Step two:
EITHER: Keep it in Word. Create a Table of Contents at the beginning: it will automatically pick up the Large, Bold headers.
OR: Save the file as a pdf, then open it in Acrobat. Open the Bookmarks panel (on a Mac, use View, Show/Hide, Navigation Panes, Bookmarks, or search for "Bookmarks" in the Help area.).
For each major section, highlight the desired heading, then select the "add bookmark" icon in the Bookmarks panel. Adobe instruction page.
At the least, bookmark the large bold headings--these are the criteria for the integrative case, or the folders for the binned types of cases. You can also add subheadings.

Do not create a pdf "portfolio." These are not accessible to some reviewers.
