Ceremony Information
General Instructions
Arrive by 2:15 p.m.
Line-up starts at 2:40 p.m.
Program begins promptly at 3:00 p.m.
Upon Arrival
Guests and anyone not wearing academic regalia will be asked to wait in the auditorium lobby until general seating begins at 2:30 p.m. If you're wearing academic regalia, please read the processional instructions below. All honorees will receive an e-mail approximately one week before the ceremony letting them know exactly where to report for the processional line-up. Please plan to arrive early to allow time to robe and line up.
Attire
While this is a robed ceremony, only students and faculty being honored individually are required to wear academic apparel. Academic Apparel is optional for the following award categories:
- Trustees' Teaching Awards
- Prestigious External Award Recognition (PEAR)
- Recognizing External Achievements (REA)
Faculty not being honored may also wear academic apparel and participate in the processional (please see instructions below). This recognition ceremony is intended to be a celebratory occasion; attendees are asked to wear appropriate business or professional attire.
PLEASE NOTE: The deadline for ordering academic apparel to arrive in time for this special ceremony was March 23rd. If you ordered academic apparel through Herff Jones to wear at Commencement, it will not arrive in time for this ceremony. You must have ordered apparel through Karen Lee to have it arrive in time for convocation. Please contact her at 317-274-2215 to switch your order. Otherwise, please dress in business attire.
Seating
Guests and anyone not wearing academic regalia may proceed directly to the auditorium and sit anywhere not marked for reserved seating when the doors open at 2:30 p.m.
Processional
If you are wearing academic regalia, line up begins at 2:40 p.m. Please plan to arrive in Room 132 of Hine Hall by 2:15 p.m., and check in with Mansi Singh or Angie Harman when you arrive.
The processional music will begin promptly at 3:00 p.m., when the Grand Marshals lead the participants into the auditorium. Individuals wearing academic apparel will be seated in the reserved section of the auditorium.
Ceremony
The ceremony will last approximately 60 minutes.
Honorees will receive instructions with details about participation in convocation one week before the ceremony.
At the conclusion, the quartet will play the recessional, and the Grand Marshals will lead participants out of the auditorium. All others in the audience will be asked to delay leaving the auditorium until the participants have exited.
Reception
A reception will be held in the lobby adjacent to the auditorium following the ceremony.

The Convocation is held in the auditorium of Hine Hall which is located on the IU Indianapolis campus at:

Validated Parking
Validated parking is available in the underground garage directly under Hine Hall (the entrance is on the northeast corner of the building. Elevators are located at both ends of the garage. Take the nearest elevator to the first floor. Parking vouchers will be available at the information table. Please have one member of your party pick up the parking vouchers and take only the minimum number needed; return extras to the information table. Additional permit parking is available in the North Street Garage.
NOTE: The main elevator on the northwest end of the garage takes you to the first floor between The Tower and Hine Hall and is the closest entrance to the information table.
